WHITE CHOCOLATE BUTTERCREAM: powdered sugar, butter, white chocolate disk, pasteurized egg whites and vanilla
STRAWBERRY STARFRUIT JAM: sugar, starfruit, strawberry, lemon juice and pectin
RAINBOW NONPAREILS: sugar, corn starch, vegetable juice, spirulina extract, riboflavin, turmeric, beta carotene and carnauba wax
Akiko White creates edible art illustrations for children of all ages. She calls them cakelustrations (illustration using cake and sugar as the medium).
When she was only 4 years old, Akiko’s mother introduced her to painting and Akiko’s grandmother shared her baking secrets with her. This inspired Akiko to create the kind of art she makes today.
Akiko received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the McNay Art Institute and has worked as a professional illustrator and graphic designer. She has also taught digital and traditional illustration as an adjunct professor.
In 2014 Akiko won The Tomie Depaola award through the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. In 2015 she won best in show at That Takes the Cake Show in Austin, Texas. In 2016 Akiko participated on Food Network’s Cake Wars with the “Best Designed Cake in Cake Wars History!”
At the present, Akiko is enjoying life in Hawai’i and gathers inspiration from her past, her children, and the beautiful scenery that surrounds her.
Her new project is “ALOHA BITES” – Mini cupcakes made with quality ingredients from Hawaii using all natural food dyes by Color Kitchen. Enjoy her staple flavors and stay tuned for new seasonal ones. Packaging is made of plant-based materials from Good Natured Products and is compostable.
